Description
Game Introduction
Conservation of Bass is a puzzle game built on a simple rule: you cannot create or destroy matter, but you can rearrange it. Your character gets past obstacles by targeting a piece of the environment and instantly warping to its location, while the object drops into your old spot. This basic mechanic quickly becomes complex as you cross huge gaps and scale walls. The game features charming pixel art created by Emlise and happysquared, with level design by Hokori and music by Sunnydaze. It was made for the GM48 March 2026 game jam and runs as an HTML5 browser game, with a downloadable version on itch.io.
How to Play
To play Conservation of Bass, use your mouse or keyboard to target objects in the environment and swap places with them. The goal is to reach the exit of each stage by strategically warping to platforms, walls, or other elements. You can challenge yourself by finding the minimum number of swaps needed to beat a stage. Sometimes the physics engine lets you slip by with fewer moves than intended, so experiment with tight jumps and timing to overcome sequences. The controls are simple, but the puzzles require careful planning and precision.
